Lead Practice Nurse / GP Liaison Nurse

Jane Harvey and Hazel Hayden are available by appointment for minor illness consultations eg coughs and colds, rashes, insect bites. Please ask for a copy of our Minor Illness leaflet which details all the symptoms they are able to treat.

Practice Nurses

Our practice nurses, Jane Harvey, Hazel Hayden and Chris Walsh, are each qualified in their own areas of chronic disease management and are available, by appointment, for Respiratory conditions (eg Asthma and COPD), Diabetes, Healthy Hearts, Minor Illness advice, Cervical Smears, advice on Sexual Health and Contraception (including contraceptive implant fitting), etc. They are also able to provide all the services covered by the Treatment Room Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Phlebotomists.

Treatment Room Nurses

Available, also by appointment, for blood pressure checks, ear syringing, ECGs, dressings, removal of stitches, Support to Stop Smoking, dietary advice, immunisations, travel and general advice which does not require a doctor’s appointment. Our Treatment Room Nurses are Chris Walsh and Deborah Holbrook.

Health Care Assistants/Phlebotomists

Health Care Assistants, under the general supervision of a registered nurse, carry out procedures required by the practice.  Some of these duties include dressings, blood pressure measurement, new patient checks, ECGs etc.

Phlebotomy is the practice of taking blood and all nurses, healthcare assistants and phlebotomists are trained in this procedure.

Our healthcare assistants/phlebotomists are Sue Cunningham, Helen Davies and Amy Shelley.

Elderly Care Nurse

Karen Billowes (RGN) works with all the Clevedon GPs to help improve the primary health care we offer our older people living in care homes. This includes chronic disease management and regular medication reviews with the overall aim being to promote better health, maximise quality of life and reduce inappropriate admissions to hospital.

District Nurses

The District Nursing team has a number of full and part time staff who share the workload.  They see patients who are confined in their home and need nursing care.  Their expertise includes Terminal illness and Palliative Care, administering injections, continence management and wound care.
